VSAT COMMUNICATION FOR EDGO’S CAMP 103D IN LIBYA’S REMOTE EASTERN DESERT

Founded in 1956, EDGO has since evolved into a multi-disciplinary business operating throughout the Middle East and in Africa, Europe and North America. Currently EDGO serves energy markets in these regions through 33 bases in 20 countries with a focus on oilfield services and logistic support.

Requirements

With an expanding operation in Libya, EDGO required a very reliable satellite communication link with high Quality of Service, 24/7 support and enough expandability to meet EDGO’s future needs. However, its service provider, like many other local providers, was unable to meet these requirements and as a result important business communications were interrupted or never carried out regularly. In mid-May 2013, EDGO came to Vizocom for a solution for Camp 103D in the deserts of the eastern part of the country and operated by Camco, one of the companies in EDGO Group.

Our Solution

Vizocom had previously offered a solution for EDGO and it was not selected by EDGO as it was not the lowest offer EDGO had received. When the selected local provider failed, Vizocom worked closely with EDGO to find a solution that not only satisfied EDGO’s stringent requirements, but also met its budget constraints as well.

Our solution included a dedicated Ka-band link using iDirect Evolution X3 modem. The solution included installation, positioning, 24/7 Network Operation Center (NOC), availability of on-ground support team when necessary, and weekly usage reports sent to EDGO by Vizocom’s Operations Department.

The final result was a high quality VSAT service with all the support and expandability they needed, plus it provided the best value defined as price for quality of service compared to competition.

Results

EDGO has since been enjoying this service with a high level of satisfaction, as reflected in a letter to Vizocom from EDGO’s Group IT Manager (See below). We are proud to have met our customer’s needs with such results, as we believe that our satisfied customers are our most valuable asset. Vizocom will continue its high quality service, and be ready to meet the most challenging requirements of EDGO in its expanding operations in Libya. We are currently working on a solution to switch over the existing EDGO’s Libya HQ to Vizocom.
